Our Values

At Appletree Joinery we are proud of our supplier network, sourcing materials to fulfil our customers needs. Wherever possible, raw materials are supplied locally, with the bulk of our sheet material coming from Triesse near York, solid timber from Duffield at Ripon and profiles from BHK in Peterlee.

We store most hardwoods on site and are currently using various oaks, maple and ash for our products. We source from well managed and sustainable forests and we have this year achieved FSC ® Certification: we now require all timber related purchases to have FSC ® traceability, even when not required by our customers.

  • The Environment

We have this year achieved FSC ® Certification and we now require all timber related purchases to have FSC ® traceability, even when not required by our customers. We use compliant A/C lacquers in our finishing facilities, whether machine or hand sprayed and all waste from these operations is carefully stored and then recycled, either through our own plant or through Leading Solvents in York. Factory 1 is heated by burning it’s own wood waste through a newly installed wood burning boiler. Larger pieces of wood are chipped and then can be stored in our silo for use during the winter months. This is good for the environment in two ways: saving on landfill and saving the use of gas as our heating source.
  • Fast Availability

The advantage we have over our competitors - mainly from China and Italy – is the option of low volume and short lead times. We find that often our customers prefer to pay a little more rather than wait up to 16 weeks for delivery and have to purchase a full container load of product. As we are relatively local to our customers, our turnaround time is much quicker and delivery costs are minimized.
  • Equipment

We have an ongoing policy for updating and modernising our plant and over the last 3 years have spent nearly a million pounds, purchasing new equipment and updating older equipment. Recent purchases include 2no CNC drilling machines, 2no edge banders, a sander for the de-nibbing of products during the painting process and the Schubert spray enclosure.
